Welcome to the new Placenta Works™ Blog! Placenta Works™ has experienced some amazing growth over the last several years, and our goal is to continue to reach more moms in order to provide them with vital information for this special season of life. In case you’re wondering, Placenta Works™ isn’t just about placentas, so if you’re not the type of mama who would choose to encapsulate, you should still tune in so you don’t miss out on all the other awesome information we share. We will offer on-going information and current research about the amazing and perfect design of our bodies, how to birth a baby naturally, and how to have an optimal birth and postpartum experience.
Our modern culture values predictability, efficiency and technology. What many people are realizing, is that while these values might fit well in a factory or in Silicon Valley, when it comes to pregnancy, childbirth, and mothering, it’s the ancient wisdom of our ancestors that needs to be rediscovered and embraced. In the last century, nearly every aspect of becoming and being a mother has completely changed. What once was a natural process aided by human beings and natural cures is now a completely medicalized progression managed by pharmaceuticals and machines. The sources of our information and education are not what they used to be. Instead of learning how to birth and parent from our mothers and grandmothers, we are learning through images in advertising, media, and pop culture. When combined with the information given to us by our modern healthcare providers, it’s no wonder many women are so miseducated about the realities and capabilities of our bodies and the healing properties of the natural world.
You’ve probably heard the saying, “When you know better, you do better.” Well, that’s our goal, in a nutshell, to help you “know better,” to uncover the modern myths/lies about pregnancy and motherhood, and to share the truth about how our bodies work–and when they don’t, how to heal them with natural means. We want to be a part of a new community of support for women that provides information and education based on our collective best interest, not the misguided interests of those managing the modern medical parenting community. We will be featuring guest bloggers who share our commitment to educating mothers, holistic care providers who treat the whole woman/child, community support groups that assist women on their journey through motherhood, as well as others who offer relevant services for mothers and babies. Please join our community of support and click “Follow” to get the most recent updates from the Placenta Works™ blog.
